The Week Ahead- Call Me Maybe, Two Grooms, and a Sample Sale!

I’m back from vacation just in time to share some fun happenings on the blog and in the DC wedding world!

I’m excited to share that this week we’ll feature a recap of our first gay marriage we were honored to be part of back in May 2012. You’re going to LOVE the intimate dinner-party feel from Paul and Joe’s nuptials, as well as the incredible transformation from ceremony into reception space!

Friday, a personal, but fun post from a wedding I attended last weekend while on vacation. Not your typical choreographed dance- this one was all thanks to the Harvard Baseball Team. Stay tuned!

Now, last but not least, a huge sample sale is coming up this THURSDAY!

DC brides, mark your calendar! Thursday- HUGE summer sample sale at Carine’s Bridal Atelier. Ladies.. this is not to be missed! Especially those of you longing for a designer gown without the designer price tag. From 5-8 p.m. on Thursday July 19, couture gowns from Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Carolina Herrera, and Monique Lhullier and more will be discounted up to 75%! The sale is first come, first serve, and you do not need an appointment. word to the wise, get there early and wait in line to get first look!

Straight from the source, owner Carine Krawiec describes these gowns, “Some of them have literally only been tried on once or twice, the condition and prices cant’ get any better.”

What you need to know before you go:

•    Sale is first come, first served

•    Line starts directly outside of the store

•    No appointments necessary

•    No merchandise hold policy

•    All shopping is self service, consultants are only available to answer questions

•    Entire store will serve as an open dressing room; brides welcome to try-on gowns

anywhere there is available space

•    Brides are recommended to wear undergarments they are comfortable to be seen in

•    All sales are final (no returns allowed); gowns are sold “as-is”

•    Cash, Mastercard, Visa, and American Express accepted. NO Discover card. Checks

are accepted, but gown stays with Carine’s Bridal until check clears.

•    Metro accessible via Foggy Bottom metro.  Street parking also available.

Fashion Forward or Jumping on the Bridal Bandwagon?

Recently, Ugg Australia introduced the “I Do Wedding Collection,” consisting of two boots and one comfy flip flop style that apparently brides to be should add to their wedding day wardrobe, or during the engagement period.

Plenty of brides have looked to Ugg and their knockoff competitors for their wedding day, whether it’s  hanging out in a comfy pair while getting ready….

or Winter Weather Bridal Parties trekking around town and staying cozy and warm

However.. many have not sought out a “bridal” white/silver combo- they are opting for some contrast with their dresses.

Happy New Year!

I hope all of our loyal readers and those who are newly engaged and just checking out our blog had a fabulous holiday and winter break. I’m feeling refreshed and ready to head into another great year. I’m not much for resolutions, though I did think it’d be fun to kickoff the new year with a first of sorts- sharing with you our first bridal show!

This past weekend Stephanie and I participated in the Landon House Bridal Fair in Urbana, MD. It was fun to get back to my hometown, network with vendors and engaged couples who have begun to plan their 2012 and 2013 nuptials. After a fabulous wedding in October in Frederick (ok, this is a good resolution to have.. get caught up on the real wedding spotlights we have to show you our wonderful couples!)  I am looking forward to expanding my client base and working with additional couples in the Frederick area.

Here’s a look at our very first bridal show booth!

Couples were greeted with a fuschia satin table linen, and a black and white damask. The colors really popped against the neutral walls and wood floors of the Landon House.

Two posters outlined our services:

Our portfolios sat along the black and white damask runner.

Lettering By Lynne provided beautiful dinner menus, which were the perfect addition to our black satin dinner napkins against the bright table linen.

Lastly, we sent folks on their way with a business card and a favor box filled with “Bliss” and “Kisses” chocolates for the soon to be Mr. & Mrs!

Vow to Get Organized!
