1. A silk or lace head scarf arranged over a high comb and falling over the back and shoulders
2. A silk mantle or short cape
In the Catholic Church, the mantilla veil is a special garment worn during holy week, and when in presence of the Pope. Protocol requires that women wear a black mantilla or hat. Catholic monarchs may exercise the privilege of wearing white, referred to as Privilège du blanc.

A Mantilla veil is traditionally shaped in a circular design, made of tulle, chiffon or entirely of lace. It drapes across the top of the head, frames the face, and falls down the back and over the shoulders.
There’s something so classic and elegant about the mantilla veil (clearly, it’s the lace!) that lends itself to a timeless and classic look.
